Guia de Isora is a lovely Canarian village situated in the south of Tenerife. It is not a tourist village but is worth a visit to look round the typical Canarian architecture and narrow streets.
It is just a short drive from the coast line of Playa San Juan and Los Gigantes and is near the village of Chio which you will have probably seen if you have ever visited mount Teide from the south side of the island.
There are some quaint shops and bars as well as many small restaurants that are worth trying out. The prices here are much cheaper than the typical touristic resorts and the locals love it when they are visited by tourists. It will give you chance to test your Spanish out.
There is a lovely church square there and we recently visited it on a very misty day in the middle of the storms in September which made it nice and eery as you can tell in these photos.
If you are in the area, then give Guia de Isora a visit, you will be pleasantly surprised. There is easy access from the TF-1 motorway and it is not a long way off the major resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Crisitianos either.
